Ahhhh...The Holidays!
Well, we made it through Thanksgiving without a scratch although I think everyone has a wider waistband now :) Dinner went pretty well I think and the pies, well, personally I can't say enough. Maybe that's because I made them!
Jon, Amy and Joe came to visit which was lots of fun and Jackson loved the extra attention. I think he may have worn Uncle Joe out by the end of the last day though. The brothers three went out to ride their motorcycles and apparently had a great time. I did hear a story or two about stalled engines and bruised bootys, but overall it sounded like they had fun.
I managed to grade a few papers and we even had time to go to the Motor Trend Auto Show. THAT was cool. There were some really funky concept cars that lookd like they were from outer space! Of course, we forgot the camera so I don't have any pictures.
The kids are doing well, and Jackson is as fiesty as ever. His latest saying is, "Oh, snap!" when things get hard or frustrating or when something is generally really cool. William is babbling away and works hard at getting his little legs in the right place for scooting across the floor. It's pretty funny to watch him concentrate on getting something that is just out of reach.
Dan and I are great as well. We are trying to decide on Christmas plans. We'd like to be able to see some of the family if possible!
Other than that, there's not much else to report. The weather is balmy (which stinks because I miss REAL winter weather) and Dan loves it. Good motorcyle riding weather he says :)

Family Update!
Thanks to everyone for waiting for this post :) Things have been very busy at work and many nights I come home, make dinner, play with the kids, put them in bed, and hit the hay myself! School has been busy and we are rounding out the end of the 1st quarter so grading has taken some extra time AND I'm hoping to be a tutor to students who are failing English I so I've been working on getting ready for that too. I'm hoping to get picked (lots of teachers are offering so they can make extra money) so I'm hoping I get the chance to do it. I would have to work Saturday mornings, but only from 7-noon, so that's not too bad.
William is doing great and growing like gangbusters! He's at 15 pounds and I have to say, I'm in love with his chunky baby thighs! I took a tape measure to his legs just to see how big they are and I got a full 6 inches around:) Ahhh....what a healthy boy! He's babbling all the time and pushing himself up on his hands to get a better look at the world. He's even getting better at sitting up when he's propped up with the Boppy. He's figured out he needs to balance himself with his arms, but he's still working on it :) He laughs all the time (especially when Dan makes goofy faces) and is a joy to listen to!
Jackson is doing well too. He's been saying some really funny things lately (that he hears from daddy) and he's using big words. Yesterday I asked him where his Optimus Prime transformer was and he said, "Mommy, I don't exactly know right now." Just tonight he repeated Dan in words and tone when he said, "That's freakin' HILARIOUS!" in reference to Tiny Fey on SNL. I just looked at Dan and shook my head. Somewhere he has picked up, "That's really cool, baby!"
Jackson has also started noticing how pretty girls are. That's right, my little Casanova got caught kissing a girl at school. Apparently, this little girl jumped on Jackson while he was lying down for nap-time and told him she wanted to give him a hug. Of course, my sweet little boy obliged and then she planted one firmly on the lips! The teacher saw this and explained that "we only hug our friends standing up" and when I asked Jack about it he said, "But, Mom! She wanted a hug!" I asked him if he thought his friend was cute and he told me she was "beautiful." Great. Now I'm going to have to convince Dan to explain a few things about kissing girls. Knowing Dan he'll tell Jackson to kiss as many as he can! LOL!
Dan is still working hard at Penhall, but not so sure about the folks he works with. I think he's unappreciated. He always puts a lot of effort into his work (he never does anything half way), but I'm not sure others see it. He says he's the only dispatcher that's lasted this long (which I think says a lot about the boss), but he keeps truckin' along :) The economy has us as nervous as the rest of the country, so I'm very happy we are both working and not being laid off, or downsized.
That's pretty much it for us here in Sin City. We are seriously talking about an "out" date to leave this place. After the kidnapping that triggered a National Amber Alert took place across the street from us, I think we are both more motivated than ever to get out of here. Of course, the kidnapping was planned and is thought to be retaliation for the theft of drug money, but that doesn't make me feel any better. The child's grandfather sole MILLIONS from the Mexican Mafia and that made a few people down south a little mad. The kidnappers may have had a target, but the fact that the family was involved in SERIOUS drug crimes is enough for me to hightail it out of here. Dan has always known I wanted to leave, but now he seems to see things my way :)

Quick Math
Ok...so here's the thing: William is almost 15 pounds at 4 months and 1 week. Jackson is 35 pounds at 4 years. Our BABY is half the size of our 4 YEAR OLD!! Hm...it seems our littlest man will soon be our biggest man!

WHOOO HOOO!
Dan took Will to see Dr. Levin today for his check up and shots and what a day!!!
Stats: 24 inches long, 14.3 pounds and in the 50th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for height.
Dr. Levin was very impressed with Will's alertness too. Will was able to follow Dr. Levin around with his eyes and he apparently laughed quite a lot at everyone in the office. He's also wanting to sit up all the time and is getting very strong. He's got such an appetite that the doctor wanted him to start rice cereal so Will got his first taste and seemed to love it :) I mixed some with his formula and he drank it down in just a few short minutes. As I write this the cute little thing is out cold wrapped up warm and snug. We're hoping this means he might sleep longer and let us catch up on our z's. Although, he's been sleeping about 5-6 hours straight already so we can't really complain.
Jackson is still doing well and has been wanting me to "do his hair" in the morning. All this really means is he wants me to wet my hands and rub is head until his hair is "spikey". Apparently, he thinks this is really cool and tells me he looks good....oh, no...watch out ladies!
I have to run, but I wanted to give everyone the news. I'm off for some study time before I hit the hay and am very glad my class was cut short tonight!

Back to School!
Well, the time has come for me to head back to the classroom and I have mixed feelings about it. I'm excited to see how the new Freshman Academy is going to work and if it trly makes a difference in the number of kids who graduate. I think it will, but there are sure to be bumps in the road. Many of the veteran teachers in the rest of the school are skeptical about it, but I have devoted myself to it and will do my best to help those scared little freshman become confident seniors some day! I've already made some new friends and am hopeful this year goes better than last.
With school and classes begining on the 5th (twice a week from now until June!) I haven't had much time to "run back to Washington" but I do spend my entire day walking around so that counts for something :) I'm trying to get into a groove so I can squeeze in some "me" time at the gym. I'll be in class from 5:30pm to 9:15pm in Henderson which is 30 minutes away from home, but at this point I can't afford to NOT take them. I'm going to top out on my salary scale soon so I need to earn credits as soon as I can. The good thing is these credits will put me at the PhD payscale! The only way to get there is through this program with the school district OR to get my PhD. I'm not that motivated and do NOT want to write another thesis, so this is the next best thing.
Will seems to be doing well with childcare. I take him to see Eva who has been doing this for years. She really seems to care about the kids and I've done a little recon work on her! I've even shown up at different times of day to see what's going on and if he's getting the attention he needs. I have yet to be disappointed! There are only a hanful of kids at Eva's and ALL of them are girls. I think Will likes this :) He gets LOTS of attention from the 4 year olds (2) and the 5 year old is sad to be leaving to go to kindergarten. Then there's a 2 year old and two one year olds. They all play in parallel (kids that small don't play to interact, they tend to group close, but play alone) so watching them is easy.
Jack has been transitioning into room five all summer and ends up in room six with the kindergarten class by the end of the day. He's a sharp one and getting the chance to hang with the older kids helps him get ready for kindergarten. Thanks to some tips from Tiffany, I'll be working with Jackson a few minutes a day to get him ready. Thanks Tiffany!
Jack has also discovered his HILARIOUS sense of humor. He thinks he is quite funny and his new favorite insult is to put "pickles" with everything. Example, "Pickle-pants, Pickle-face, Pickle-head" and his favorite phrase, "You smell like pickles!" He laughs hysterically at his jokes and I feel that our son is either going to be a great comedian some day or a pickle farmer :)
Dan is still working hard as usual and does a great job with the kids. Of course, Jack thinks Dan hung the moon (which I thought would wear off some day, but that doesn't seem to be the case) and of course, William thinks daddy is the bee's knees. Dan and I have been working hard to buy a house for the boys to stretch out in and we hope to be getting closer to our goal. We'll keep everyone posted when we get things figured out, but for now I'm keeping mum. The wheels are finally moving in the right direction but I totally feel that if I talk too much about something I'll jinx it!! Just keep us in your thoughts and send us "good house"vibes :)
